Disability Awareness and Sensitivity
Training and Development
Millions of people across the globe deal with some form of disability, whether it is physical or mental; visible or invisible; whether they were born with it or acquired the disability later on.
A quote by Bruce Lee sums it up as “People fear what they do not understand.”
Learning more about people with disability in the workplace makes it easier for co-workers to understand what a disabled person goes through and the challenges they face on a daily basis. Our training offers solutions to changing the stereotypical mindset of employees. They will be able to “see the world and challenges through the eyes of people living with disabilities and will be able to understand certain reactions, limitations and situations better.
By creating awareness employees will be able to treat people living with disabilities with a better sense of inclusion because they will have a better understanding of their challenges and limitations and increase people’s empathy towards them. It will not only allow easier acceptance, but also help people embrace diversity within the workplace.
Our training program is designed to enhance you team’s understanding of disability issues and equip them with practical skills and strategies to interact respectfully and sensitively with people with disabilities.
Our experienced trainers will take them on a journey of empathy, learning, and growth, helping them to develop a deeper appreciation of the challenges faced by people with disabilities and how you can be a positive influence in their lives.
This training workshop will enable your staff to have a better understanding of the variety of disabilities they may encounter and how to deal with this in a sensitive, practical manner. It will help them to overcome the natural fear we may have when we interact with a disabled person and give tips on awareness and etiquette in these situations.
Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it – Helen Keller
The workshop will address frequently asked questions such as:
- What are the visible versus invisible disabilities?
- How can I overcome my fear of inter-acting with people with disabilities?
- What is the correct etiquette and common courtesies?
